I liked that show, especially Wheeler's bit. Just a shame Billy-J no-showed.

Gold... makes people do some strange things.

Men change, sure.

Does the promise of greater reward make that happen faster?

I can't say, not really.

Maybe that greed is inherent within them, and the allure of the prize just brings it to the surface.

People will be what they will be, no matter the circumstances.

They might seem to change, but in the end, it was just what was there all along, just hidden or suppressed.

Now, what does that make me?

Aren't I supposed to be a good guy?

But the nice people don't blindside others and take them out from behind.

The good guys don't make threats and attack others after their matches.

Ha! Whoever said I wasn't that kind of guy was sorely mistaken then I guess.

When it comes down to it...

When it comes down to it, I want to preserve my reign.

Do I really want to go down in HIW history as a man who allowed a belt he was holding to go defunct?

The way I see it, I either become a villain, and become infamous for retiring the **** title...

Or I walk down the straight and narrow, and risk becoming the last ever UK champion – and not in the good way!

So they can boo all they want.

They can call me every name under the sun: traitor, whatever.

I don't give a damn.

I have my reasons for doing what I do, and they're probably a good deal better than most of the bastards in the company.

Yeah... I have my reasons, and if I have to sacrifice some fan support to achieve my ends, then so be it.

That's a small price to pay.

Wave your signs.

Shake your fists.

Boo until your lungs give out.

If you think it will make a bit of difference, you're sorely mistaken.

Maybe I'll go back to my old ways after this, but then again...

This path might bring victory, and isn't that, when it comes down to it, what everybody wants?

You know, I think I understand all those assholes a little better now.

The best way to go about your business... is to seek whatever advantage is available.

I like the sound of that.

Fine, looks like I'm turning over a new leaf.

But not in the sense you'd normally do.

Not having the cheers will be a blow and all but if it comes down to be a fan favourite loser and a hated winner, I know which I'll be picking.

Well, I guess it's time to bring the pain.

Morgan Jones...

Tonight, I'll give you just a taste of what lies in store for Bobby Azula.

Count yourself lucky that I'm pacing myself.

You wouldn't want to be torn apart just a week before the PPV now would you?

Yes, Morgan, remember this...

When you've been driven to the floor, wind knocked from your lungs so hard you're seeing stars.

When you can't move a muscle, so debilitating was the move performed on you.

When you watch, helpless, as the referee's hand descends for the third time.

You.

Are.

The.

Lucky one.

Knight stalked through the backstage of HIW, clad in a white robe, his longsword strapped to his back as ever. At 6ft 1”, he might not have been the biggest man on the roster, but the manner in which he held himself, how he walked, and the deathly calm face – they were intimidating. Pacing backwards and forwards in the area, Knight looked more like a caged animal than anything else – you could feel pent up aggression and tension just radiating from him.

It was no surprise, therefore, that he snapped at the first person to come near him with microphone at the ready.  Still, nobody ever said the interviewer job would be easy, especially when it came to trying to drag a few words out of shy or hostile superstars. Knight in particular, who had move from the former, to the latter category during his time with HIW. Though she steeled herself during her approach, Jessie Hall still winced at the vicious look that came onto Knight's face after she tapped him on the shoulder.

”You again?” Knight snarled. ”I told you before I have nothing to say. Give it up already,” Jessie had been pursuing the UK champion for the better part of a week now, attempting to secure an interview from him, with no success whatsoever. Knight had been brusque at the best of times, downright rude at others, and angry with perpetuity. This time, however, Jessie had a trick up her sleeve. She'd give him a chance though, all the better to watch him squirm when she hit him with it.

”I'm sorry Luke, but all the fans out there are dying to know: why the change of heart? It's a question that's been on the lips of almost every HIW mark. Don't you think that the faithful of the federation deserve that at least?” Knight smirked, turning away and shaking his head as if to say 'Let them ask', he then looked back to Jessi.

”You haven't forgotten what I said last time right? I don't make grand sweeping statements, I don't pour out my heart and soul out in front of a capacity crowd. Luke Knight isn't a man for the microphone. They can wonder all they like, I don't care. They aren't getting any answers from me,” Knight made to turn around and start walking, but Jessie caught him by the shoulder.

”Sorry to burst your delusions of grandeur,” Jessie told him coolly, pulling out a signed document from her pocket. ”But I'm afraid our boss has told me to get this interview, and if you refuse... well, take a look,” Jessie couldn't help but smile triumphantly as Knight snatched the papers and began reading them, first with disbelief, then with utter rage, before finally boiling down to simmering resentment, but also resignation.

”Fine.” Knight spat. ”Have your damn interview. This isn't worth my job,” Jessie gave him a sweet smile and the wrestler's fists clenched involuntarily as he became yet more infuriated.

”I knew you'd see it my way eventually,” Jessie waved a cameraman forward, and she and Knight stood together in the typical interviewing set-up, and as the camera began to roll, she looked into it, still smiling. ”Hi I'm Jessie Hall, my guest at this time is UK Champion, Luke Knight,” If looks could kill, the camera would have exploded on the spot, destroying everything within a fifty metre radius to boot. “As we all heard on last Vital Signs, our Chairman Scorpio has decreed that the UK and **** titles will be unified at the PPV, No Exit, with the winner of the Champion versus Champion match being the one whose title will remain intact. Now, Knight, my question to you is this: You've always done your fighting in the ring before now, what compelled you to ambush Azula after his successful title defence last show?”[/b] Knight rolled his eyes, but with the threat of a firing hanging over his head if he continued his publicity-dodging ways, he had no choice but to answer.

”I saw it as safeguarding my interests, nothing more than that. Doing my fighting in the ring, in case you haven't noticed, hasn't exactly been working too well for me recently. I'm on a two match losing streak, and I figured that it would be a good idea to lay down a little... insurance ahead of No Exit. Good thing Azula is facing the number one contender this week, that helps me considerably. Hey! Styles, if you're watching, I hope you kick his sorry ass all over that ring!” Jessie gave him a faintly disgusted look.

”You've been a fan favourite ever since you came into HIW, how do you feel, now that you've lost the support of the crowd? It must hit pretty hard not to have all those cheers behind you,” Knight shrugged nonchalantly, as if it didn't matter all that much to him.

”If it comes down to losing a cheer or two or losing my title belt, I'm taking the UK championship every day of the week and bask in the booing. Why? Because I know that those boos will be the sound of me retaining my championship, winning another and putting it to rest simultaneously. I wish I could tell you I'm devastated about it, but I'm realistic so I'm not. I'm under no illusions about what I'm doing. Luke Knight is playing to win, by any means necessary. If that treads on the toes of the crowd at the same time, then so be it. I'll go home with my victory laughing,”

”Okay... one last question: Do you have any comment on your opponent tonight, Morgan Jones?”

”It seems by the end of this month I'll have fought every champion in HIW... Jones isn't my concern. This is just a tune-up for No Exit. I'll be going all out to win, but he isn't my target. Jones has nothing to fear from me but a swift defeat, that's all,” Knight wheeled around and walked off quickly. He'd been told that was the last question, and he had taken it as such. Jessie watched him go.

I hope you come to your senses Knight... She thought to herself. The fans are your greatest friends...

Heh, unification, that should be an interesting match up, I must say.

Oh yeah, this week's card, why is there a tag team match between Billy and I without either of us having partners?

"You... you really sure about this Luke?"

Luke Knight, UK champion of HIW looked over at his friend and agent Jack Cooper, who was standing beside him with an anxious look on his face. Cooper had good reason to be a little apprehensive: Knight's speaking skills left something to be desired, and that was only in interview, this would be a full viginette. Knight was a pretty quiet, reserved person, and this type of promo really wasn't his forte, still, he had decided that this was what he wanted to do, and nobody could persuade him otherwise. Knight nodded slightly, and Cooper inclined his head, still frowning - he knew that this could be a total disaster. The agent looked his client up and down for a moment, and couldn't help but chuckle; Knight was wearing a long white robe, tied at the waist with a cord, with a pool of material at the back, which was some kind of hood. Most unusual was the large medievil longsword strapped across Knight's back, the hilt of which was just about visible protruding beyond his shoulder. Another friend approached, clapping a hand on Knight's shoulder.

"Well, look at it this way if you're worried Jack. Luke's already wearing that ridiculous outfit, how could he possibly look more silly?" Sean Kaplan was a sometimes-wrestler, always wise-cracking buddy of Knight. He didn't take much seriously, and his remark was intended to bolster rather than insult Knight. It was the kind of tension easing joke that was typical of Kaplan, and about as much help as he could offer, considering Knight was planning to do this on his own save for the cameraman.

The three men were standing on the outskirts of a forest, mid-afternoon time, with the sun high and bright in the air and the sky almost cloudless. The trees were certainly not scarce, and the area was overgrown, the ground decorated with a fantastic collage of many coloured leaves which had fallen in the Autumn season. After a few more moments waiting, Knight stretched, then grinned sheepishly at his two friends.

"Time's a wasting, I'd better get moving guys. Catch you later," Knight gestured to the cameraman. "Come on then, let's get this done with," He turned away and began walking into the forest, the cameraman shrugged to himself, then followed, struggling to manoeuvre his equipment through the heavily wooded area.

"Sorry about this!" Knight called apologetically. "But we need to be some ways inside here for this to work properly!" Knight turned, and seeing the staff member having difficulties, walked back to him to help him move his cumbersome filming gear around. The pair of them made fairly good progress, but an awkward silence developed after a couple of minutes, and Knight felt the need to break up the tension a little.

”So... uh, hey, what are you called? I believe it would be a bit politer if I wasn't going around thinking of you as 'The Camera Guy' don't you think?” 'The Camera Guy' grinned at Knight, but didn't speak until they had carried the stuff over a particularly difficult to negotiate patch of thorn.

”Name's Jonathan, they call me Johnny,” Johnny's face fell a little as he continued speaking. ”You know Mr. Knight, that's the first time anybody I've worked with at this company has even bothered to ask me my name? I guess a lot of them just see us as little drones, to be used at their convenience then discarded once they're done with us.” Knight winced slightly, the gesture hidden from view as he was behind a tree at the time. Did this guy have a chip on his shoulder or something? The superstars were only expecting the HIW staff to do their jobs, a lot of them were often too busy to start socialising with people. The performers usually had schedules to keep to, and they didn't tend to allow for little chats.

”Whoa, hey, don't call me Mr. Knight, if anything, make it Knight, or uh, Luke, if you want to. But I wouldn't feel too bad about that if I were you. Look at it this way Johnny; you know you're doing your job well, so you take satisfaction from that. The best people don't need any praise or reward to do a task: it comes from within.  Sorry to cut you off though, mate, because this is interesting, but we have something to finish.”

”Hm... maybe you're right. Okay, roll camera!”

Matt Marvel...

The very name sends a shiver down my spine.

What? No! Not in that way you pervert!

A shiver of disgust, of revulsion.

Talented? Yes, yes he is. Does that stop him from being one annoying, egotistical son of a ****?

Last I checked, no, no, and NO!

Marvel says he hates me, says he can't stand my pretty-boy face.

Rest assured Matt, the feeling is mutual.

Asides from the fact that your face isn't pretty, but that kind of goes without saying.

Really, you strut around this place like you're God's Gift to the company.

Gift? Curse, maybe.

You warn people to keep their mouths shut otherwise you're gonna hurt them.

What, are you worried they might say a word that's too big for you to understand or something?

Matt, you may very well walk out of the clubs with a girl on each arm.

Heck, I've seen you.

But... you know, Matt, hookers don't count.

Still, I agree with one thing Matt, you're great to have at parties.

When you're gone, everybody lightens up so much, it's unbelievable.

Your purpose as an entertainer is to come in at the start, then, when everybody is sick of you, the entire night seems so much better for you not being there.

...Huh, oh, sorry, sorry, I'm trying to remember what you were saying the other night, but it's a little difficult.

See, my eyes were streaming.

I have an allergy to bullshit.

Oh wait, I remember, you mentioned cancer.

Well, I'm the solution to your screwed up self, Marvel.

I'm the elixir.

But you know, Matt, you're right, I am not you.

...

Thank **** for that!

Although I must admit, I did toy with the idea of being an unpopular, narcissistic **** once or twice, but you know what? It didn't really suit me.

Marvel?

Bring it on.

Just be glad I'm not allowed to take my sword into the ring with me.

*Yes, I know this is right before the deadline. I never really have time to RP.
*Might take some time off soon, if that's alright, my schedule is way too hectic right now.
*Reasonable RP I guess, not great.

My Mystery title reign was one of the lengthiest on HIW, the only one I'm sure it loses out to is Anarchy Andy's one as Elite champ.

Anyway, whilst we're name calling: who the hell is that Russ guy? Damn n00b strutting around like he owns the place, haha.
